This episode of "the world's most enlightening Hip Hop livestream" features one of the heavyweights in the world of Hip Hop studies, Dr Murray Forman, author and editor of "That's The Joint: The Hip Hop Studies Reader." This seminal text is found in Hip Hop studies classrooms in colleges throughout the country, and was just re-released as a 3rd edition with editorial assistance from the inimitable Dr. Mark Anthony Neal and Dr. Regina Bradley. In addition, Dr. Forman has released many other works, including "Hip Hop Archives: The Politics and Poetics of Knowledge Production." He discusses all of these projects as well as why Hip Hop studies is such an important and vital field for academia.

Then we're joined by Randy Swiggum, who works in the Madison, Wisconsin School District and is helping orchestrate the Hip Hop Music Ed Pedagogy Conference this coming Saturday., February. 24th, 2024. The day-long virtual summit is dedicated to the late, great Jarritt Shield, who was a professor at Berklee College of Music, a former guest on this program, and an unparalleled advocate for Hip Hop to be treated as a musical art form deserving the same attention and respect in educational settings as jazz, blues, rock and roll, pop and classical.

While Jarritt Sheel is no longer with us, his legacy lives on. Randy talks about this conference, in which host Manny Faces will be keynoting.
